Customization: Weapons

Call of Duty Black Ops really takes customization to the max. Yes you have the usual option of picking your own attachments and perks but there are a few new elements to take into consideration when it comes to your weapon in Black Ops.

My personal favorite was the ability to change your red dot site. You no longer have to settle with a plain red dot. Here are your choices…

Dot
Semicircle
Line with dot
Circle
Smiley
Arrows Horizontal
Arrows Vertical
Arrows with dot
Boxes
Burst
Circle within a circle
Circle with dot
Circle with Crosshairs
Circle with inner line
Circle with outer line
Circle with arrows
Circle with triangles
Outer crosshairs
Small crosshairs
Large crosshairs
Diamond
Diamond outline
Heart
Radiation
Skull
Square

Star
3 dots
Treyarch
Triangle
Outer triangles
X

yin yang

Along with your choice of shape you can also pick the color of the site you choose. I was sporting a blue X during the event. Not sure if it really improved my game but it looked pretty freakin cool.

As usual you have a choice of camos but this time it will cost you COD points instead of headshots.

Dusty
Ice
Red
Olive
Nevada
Sahara
ERDL
Tiger
Berlin
Warsaw
Siberia
Yukon
Woodland
Flora
Another fun new addition is that your clan tag and emblem can be put on your gun. So your gun truly is YOUR gun. So when people watch their killcam they’ll say “holy crap that gun is EPIC!”
Now as I said with the emblem customization, some players may think all this personalization is a waste of game time. But it’s all a matter of opinion and if you could care less about your what color your reticule is or what shape it is then don’t use it. But for me I think these new personalization features are awesome and I can’t wait to really trick out my weapons.

Get your sniper on

Ok so I’m not going to lie, I’m a pretty miserable sniper. But for my buddy @KAIZER_SOSA I tried to get some sort of feel for what we will see with the Black Ops sniper class.

So here’s what you have to work with…

-Dragunov
-WA2000
-L96A1
-CLASSIFIED

Notice that the last one is listed as classified. Each weapon type seemed to have a “classified” gun in it. It could not be unlocked or bought with COD points which makes me think it might unlock at a prestige. Just a thought.

But anyways my first experience with snipers in Black Ops was in the wager mode Gun Game were two out of the twenty guns are snipers. Now I am not a qwikscoper but did make an attempt just to see if some changes had been made with aiming.

Looks like the qwikscopers of MW2 might have to work on their hard scoping since the auto-aim has been toned the hell down. It seems that qwickscoping and no-scoping will now be lucky shots. Now I’m not saying players won’t try or succeed, I just think it will be way more difficult if they do choose to attempt to.

Now like I said, I am not sniper expert but I do think that the shenanigans surrounding them have been fixed/addressed. But we shall see on Nov. 9th.

Killstreaks

Killstreaks are not usually something I get excited about but Black Ops does bring some pretty sweet ones to the table including the RC-XD we have all been hearing/seeing so much about. I of course being the crappy in-game driver that I am found myself crashing into many walls and/or other RC-XDs.

3- Spy Plane

3- RC-XD

4- Counter-Spy Plane

4- SAM Turret

5- Care Package

5- Napalm Strike

6- Sentry Gun

6- Mortar Team

7- Attack Helicopter

7- Valkyrie Rockets

8- Blackbird

8- Rolling Thunder

9- Chopper Gunner

11- Attack Dogs

11- Gunship

The customizable killstreaks are back from MW2 but they do cap off at 11. Each killstreak can be purchased with COD points and some you must be a certain rank to buy them.

CoD WAW fans will notice that the doggies have returned!

I was pretty excited about this until I had about 3 of them attacking me all at once. I put up a good fight with my WAW dog knifing skills but down I went.

I do sense that my frustration with killstreaks will continue but maybe a little less so than with MW2. On the plus side the game ships with a REAL(no killstreaks, attactments, perks)  barebones playlist so that will certainly keep me satisfied.

Which killstreaks are you pumped to use?

Customization: Emblems

One of the main bullet points in the creation of the Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer. Emblems, camos, and the overall appearance of your character can be customized to how YOU the player wants it. But let focus on emblems…

Emblems and titles were a new fun thing in MW2 and Black Ops is looking to expand the creative process on that idea.

Now the pic you see above in an excellent example of an emblem created by my buddy @Telixion. In Black Ops there are over 300 designs to choose from to create you’re own emblem.

Pics below Via G4TV.com

Some of the designs must be unlocked or bought with COD points and using up to 12 layers, create you’re own work of art for people to remember after watching the killcam.

To some this may seem like a dumb waste of valuable game time. To others (such as myself) it’s a great way to make the gaming experience truly unique. Not only that I see this as getting pretty hilarious or some could really go to town and create a work of art.

So let’s talk about Wager Matches

I have decided that these matches will be my favorite part of Black Ops. Not only are they a great new addition to the same old game modes but they are freakin fun as hell. Here’s the low down if you have no idea what I’m talking about…

So the different wager matches are as follows…

One in the Chamber
Sticks and Stones
Gun Game
Sharpshooter

I know that not everyone is into free-for-all matches but these are not your average FFA games. These matches are designed to keep the tension and the spirit of competition high.

In these game modes you’re COD points (the new in game currency that allows you to buy weapons, attachments, camos, etc.)  will be placed on the line. Come out on top and you could be buying a sweet new camo or gun. Get anything besides 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place you get nothing and loose some of your COD points.

So come November, you may develop a little gambling problem because these matches are addicting.

And so I return

From the best trip I have ever been on with a wealth of information an stories to tell you. Starting with the basics. Call of Duty Black Ops is a freakin amazing game (specifics to come in following posts). There is just no other way to put it.

My main concern of it having a MW2 look and feel went right out the window as soon as I played my first match. Treyarch has brought new ideas and ditched some major fails from MW2 to give players just an all out amazing MP.

So stay tuned the rest of today/tomorrow for info and my opinions on what the Call of Duty Black Ops MP has to offer.

I haz the key

The big day is almost here and I am beyond excited. To get us in the mood here are our room keys at the hotel. While this is only a fraction of the awesomeness to come, it’s still pretty freakin sweet.

September 1st Approaches

As everyone should know by now September 1st will be a full reveal for the Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer. It’s going to be a red carpet event of EPIC proportions. The guessing games and speculation can finally be put to rest.

On an equally exciting note, I will be attending said red carpet event in LA. Myself and other select COD community VIPs along with assorted celebrities will be in attendance of this amazing COD awesomeness. So be sure to follow me on Twitter and keep an eye on the site as I will attempt to soak up anything and everything I see and squeeze it out onto the internetz.

Remember Reach

A new live action trailer for Halo Reach was released yesterday and I have to say it’s pretty sick. I’m always impressed by these live action scenes that are produced to promote Halo. They maybe short but they pack a punch. Kinda makes me wish they would follow though on that movie they were going to do.

Halo Reach drops September 14th.

Fan Fabricates Fallout 3 Awesomeness

Special thanks to my buddy Ian for alerting me to the existence of this epic fanboy work of art.

Super Fallout fan Ryan Palser created his own replica A3-21 Plasma Rifle from Fallout 3. Talk about dedication. This thing looks like it could take out an army of Super Mutants.

Now the plasma weapons were never my weapons of choice while roaming the wastelands but this thing is freakin epic.

Even is you don’t like Fallout, you have to admit that’s pretty damn impressive.
