Ice-T Confirmed for Gears 3

Another rumor confirmed at E3. Last night Cliff Bleszinski officially announced that the rapper/actor would be voicing the new character Griffin in the next installment of Gears of War.

According to Bleszinski’s Twitter, Ice-T is pumped to be a part of the game.

Gears of War 3: Beast Mode [ON] OFF

So not only did we get a look at the four player co-op of Gears of War 3 but the guys at EPIC clued us into an entirely new MP game mode. BEAST MODE!

It seems that the wildly successful Horde mode from Gears 2 gave the developers the idea to turn the tables. In Beast mode you play as Locusts. But not just the plain old kind from past MP, no no no. From tiny(but deadly) Tickers to blood thirsty Berserkers, players will be able to play as those and everything in between.

You’re mission, of course, is to eliminate the COGs and unlike Horde you have more than one life to do it. Now there is a ranking system. This means you will have to wait to rank up to play as different Locusts.

I have a feeling this game mode is going to be insanely popular.

Can’t we all just get along?

With E3 2010 in full swing, twitter feeds everywhere have been crowded with updates. But they’ve also been flooded with fanboys/fangirls hating on other consoles and companies.

News Flash people! We all love gaming!!! PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC and everything in between, we all enjoy video games. This business of console wars and who has the better platform is childish. To each his/her own. Which console you choose to play on is your own business and as long as you’re having fun, nothing else should matter.

So do me and so many others a favor this E3, respect other gamers who play on other platforms. No console is perfect and every single one has flaws. Stop the console wars.

Nintendo Announces 3DS

Another non-surprise for E3, Nintendo shows off the 3Ds. But very different that expected.

Via G4.com

It has a wider top screen: a 3.5 inch wide display,

includes a slider control to choose the degree of 3D, from “none” to “all.”

Improved graphics capability from the current generation of DS.

Will feature a “slide pad” controller.

Contains motion and gyro sensors.

Compatible with Nintendo DSi.

Two camera lenses on the outside allows you to take photos and view in 3D!

Capable of displaying 3D Hollywood movies. No titles yet, but Disney, WB and Dreamworks will have trailers on the thing.

WI-fi compatible. No monthly fee for online.

All of that without the need for 3D glasses. Now I’ve never been a fan of the idea of 3D gaming but this thing looks pretty sweet. Also you can control “how 3D” you want your experience. Defiantly a plus for those of us anti-3D players.

Honestly the technology put into this new DS has me eating my words from previous posts. Clearly this is not the same old DS re-done with 3D. Nintendo clearly put everything they had into this new handheld and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops demo leaves fans drooling

Treyarch’s own Mark Lamia kicked off the Microsoft conference yesterday with a look at the amazing Call of Duty: Black Ops.

As usual Treyarch did not disappoint. Be sure to brush up on your helicopter skills because that’s allllll you behind the controls.

Gears of War 3 looks EPIC!

Among the many game demos we saw from yesterday’s Microsoft conference at E3 we were graced with a peak at Gears of War 3 gameplay. EPIC is the only way to describe it.

Yes gamers there is four player co-op AND a female playable character. Alas we have a lot of waiting to do for this final Gears installment. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that the release isn’t set until April 2011. But it looks well worth the wait.

Xbox 360 Slim Unveiled

There you have it folks. The shiney new slimmer Xbox 360. But what is does it have to offer?

Via joystiq,com

Microsoft has officially revealed a new Xbox 360 (the same one we already saw in that Italian ad) with a 250GB HDD, built-in Wi-Fi, a shiny new coat of glossy black paint, and, insanely enough, it’s shipping to retailers right now

So who’s planning on getting it? I might consider it mostly for the 250gb hard drive and the quietness factor but I’m overall unimpressed. Oddly enough they are not charging more that the current Elite system. $299 for the new slim. Sorry Europe you guys have to wait until July.

Natal=Kinect

So last night the name Project Natal was put to rest and Kinect for Xbox 360 was born. They also gave us a few game titles for the peripheral but let talk about the name first.

No barriers.
No boundaries.
No gadgets.
No gizmos.
No learning curves.

You Kinect, you are the controller.

A little cheesy if you ask me. Project Natal sounded a little cooler. But that’s a minor thought.
As for the the games that were revealed…

via teamxbox.com

Kinectimals
You can play with virtual animals. Lol cat Kinect!

Joyride
A racing game where players steer with their hands.

Kinect Sports
Boxing, bowling, beach vollyball, track and field, soccer and table tennis.

Kinect Adventures
River rafting with friends.

Dance Central
A dancing version of So You Think You Can Dance.

Star Wars also seems to have a game coming to Kinect. No surprise there as motion control and lightsabers seem to go hand in hand.

Personally I don’t think the the new name of the games that were announced were super impressive. Yes, I’m going to but Natal/Kinect but there are many out there that are not. And I don’t blame them. Hardcore gamers on Xbox 360 are not going to but it. If they wanted/cared about motion control they would have bought a Wii.

On the other hand Kinect opens up a new market for Microsoft. A console that is “fun for the whole family.”I don’t blame Microsoft for wanting to get in on that market. With the money the Wii brought in, motion control was the next logical step for their console.

As usual we shall see how well it does in the Fall when Kinect hits the stores.

Countdown to E3: What are you most looking forward to?

So E3 is just about two days away. We are chock full of rumors and are ready to see whats true. That being said, what game are you most looking forward to seeing next week?

Countdown to E3: Super Scribblenauts

Holy crap I am wayy too excited for this game. Now if you have a DS and have not played Scribblenauts, GO GET IT!!! It’s a puzzle game that allows you to write anything (no vulgarity so minds out of the gutter) and it will appear. Use the items you summon to complete challenges with the lovable character Maxwell.

What I have been reading so far, Super Scribblenauts improves upon the awesomeness of the first game. The first major improvement being the controls. Now when it comes to handheld games I am a big supporter of using the D-pad to move characters. I know we have a touch screen now but it’s really not ideal to direct movements. That was a big problem for me in the first game. Getting Maxwell were I wanted him to be was tough going with the touch screen. Super Scribblenauts will have D-pad for movement and B for jump. WOOT!

Next we have the use of adjectives. For those who failed English, an adjective is a word that modifies a noun and gives it more information.

via ign.com

Adjectives significantly increase the amount of stuff you can summon into the game. Whereas previously you could bring in a car, now you can call in an “undead” car, an “angry” car, or a “pregnant” car. Objects will react accordingly to their adjectives. For instance, that pregnant car will eventually give birth to a baby car. Oh, and the formerly pregnant car will now be a skinny car. Weird, huh? One of my favorite examples was when we summoned an undead bee. Zombies love brains, right? So we brought in an explosive brain. The undead bee couldn’t resist it.

So another thing added to the list of exciting things to come out of E3!
