Remember Reach

A new live action trailer for Halo Reach was released yesterday and I have to say it’s pretty sick. I’m always impressed by these live action scenes that are produced to promote Halo. They maybe short but they pack a punch. Kinda makes me wish they would follow though on that movie they were going to do.

Halo Reach drops September 14th.

Retro Halo

If you are a Halo fan and haven’t seen/played this yet get out from under your rock and check it out.

Ed Fries, the once vice president of Microsoft’s game publishing division – and the man who had his hand in signing Bungie Software as a Microsoft first-party developer – has returned to his old-school roots with a brand new game: Halo 2600 for the Atari 2600, which premiered at the Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas this weekend.

Now if you’re a young’n who never got to experience the awesomeness that is/was an Atari game system this may not be very exciting. But to see a game like Halo take a trip back in time like this is pretty exciting for the older players.

It may not have the graphics that our current Halo has but it certainly has the Halo feel. With it’s simple controls and classic old school sounds you can’t help but smile and think how epic this game could have been back then.

If you want to check it out go to www.halo2600.com

Halo Reach console bundle…wow

There you have it folks the first Special Edition console using the new 360. Very fitting that it should be a Halo title. And holy crap it looks freakin awesome!

As for the specs… via kotaku.com

The bundle will be available on Sept. 14, when Halo: Reach also launches. It will cost $399. It includes the standard Xbox 360 S configuration inside the Limited Edition, UNSC-stamped silver housing, the two silver controllers, and the game.

To add to awesomeness there are also Halo-ish sounds accompanying the console according to Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson.

So if you love Halo and want the full on Halo Reach experience, you might want to start saving up those pretty pennies.

Bungie Day 2010

On the seventh day of the seventh month Bungie comes together to say thank you to the fans. This years Bungie Day comes with the gift fire! For today only all players on Halo 3 can equip themselves with a flaming helmet usually reserved for Bungie employees. That’s right people team up and pwn others Ghost Rider style. But only for today so get it while it’s hot!

Via Bungie.net

On behalf of the entire Bungie team, thank YOU for being awesome. We wouldn’t be here without you. Sure, we’d be somewhere, just not here…probably more like the cold damp basement of an rundown school building in Chicago.

Stand strong 7th Column, everything is proceeding exactly as planned. World Domination is quickly coming into reach.

Reaching for it!

Thanks to my twitter buddy @KAIZER_SOSA (and lady luck) I was able to come across a Halo Reach Beta code. My thoughts after my first round, “Holy crap this game is going to be hard to wait for!” For those of you out there who think this is just another “same old Halo,” think again. Yes, it does give you the same look and feel of the previous Halo 3 but it also gives you much more.

First lets talk about loadouts. OMG jet packs!!!! Yes players you have the option to choose a loadout that contains a jet pack. But choose you loadout wisely my children. Sometimes the map you’re playing on, just is not best suited for the jet pack.

Personally I’ve gotten into using the sprint ability loadout. All those hours playing Halo 3 wondering why this ability just wasn’t there. Halo Reach has satisfied my craving for sprinting. If I need to get out of a bad situation fast, just a click of the bumper and I’m off. Love it!

So how bout those new gamemodes? Well not all of them are available just yet, but be patient. You of course have the usual slayer and team slayer modes but there are also some new objective game types. I took part in quite a few “Stockpile” games yesterday. Basically all you do is grab as many flags as you can and guard them until they are collected. Ten flags wins the match. Flags are collected every 60 seconds and must be in your teams circle to be counted.

This mode has potential. As long as players focus on the objective and use teamwork. As for most objective games I recommend playing with some friends who will actually help you work towards the goal.

Tomorrow May 7 Invasion will be released for the beta. So expect more from me on that. So peeps, any thoughts on your beta experience so far?

It’s Beta Time

Today is the day people. Pop in your ODST disks(provided you were smarter than me and hung on to it)  and take advantage of the public beta for Halo Reach.

I have to say that Bungie made an intelligent decision on this one. With Halo being such a popular series it’s only logical that they will want this MP to be as popular as the rest. That being said a public beta will assist them in working out the bugs or issues that could still be lurking in the shadows.

Now I’m not going to point fingers or name names, but certain games need public testing before the full release. Games that have such a large MP fan base need to be tested on a large scale. Internal testing just won’t cut it.

So Halo fans, after partaking in a few rounds head over to Bungie.net and take the survey they have set up. Your opinion counts and can help improve the game. So rev up your jet pack and start playing!

Bungie teams up with Activision?

This has to be some kind of last minute April Fools joke right?? Wrong.

UK, April 29, 2010 – Bungie has just announced a deal with Activision Blizzard, spanning some ten years, that will see the publishing giant releasing the Halo developer’s next big franchise. (via ign.com)

We all knew Halo would come to an end eventually. The upcoming Halo Reach will most likely be Bungie’s last work in the series. But save your tears. It’s all for the best, especially with Bungie suiting up for Activision.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you most likely know about the fall of Infinity Ward. It seems like everyday IW is losing at least a handful of employees. Until soon IW will be no more.

With the recent bad press against Activision could something good come out of Bungie’s partnership? Well that depends. As long as Bungie is allowed to give us the same quality in a game that they have given us in the past I have no qualms. But if Bungie is swallowed whole and Activision spits out the shattered pieces of what was an amazing developer…well that’s a different story.

Honestly we(all gamers) don’t care who you side with Bungie. We just want amazing games. Don’t lose your integrity and we can all get along and be happy playing our games.
